“We just had our busiest Friday and Saturday nights since opening. Adding on to that we had more catering orders through our site and third parties last week than we have had ever, with more scheduled for this coming week.”Restaurant owner, Google review
Why the car makes the choice first
Oklahoma City is built for driving. About three in four people who work in the city drive to work alone, and transit carried 0.3% of trips to work across the metro in 2024, so almost every dinner out starts with a decision made at home or at the office, then a drive. Few guests wander past your door on foot the way they do in a walking city. By the time the family is buckled in, the restaurant has been chosen.
The OKC Streetcar has run a downtown loop and a Bricktown loop since December 2018, and it helps in the core. For most restaurants, though, the real map is drive time across a metro of about 1.5 million people: how far your regulars will go on a weeknight, and how much farther on a Saturday. The rest of this page follows one weekend through that map, day by day, and shows where an offer has to be for it to count.
Wednesday and Thursday: the plan gets made
Weekend plans in a driving city are made early. A family settles Friday's dinner over the kitchen table on Wednesday, friends trade restaurant names on Thursday, and a couple books Saturday before leaving work. An offer that first appears on Friday evening reaches people who are already on the road to somewhere else. So the weekend offer goes on phones in the middle of the week, while the plans are still open, with a second push on Friday afternoon for those who decide late.
That is the loop behind the published Oklahoma City result. In its second week on our ad system, a restaurant had its best Friday and Saturday since opening, up $900 across the two nights. We publish it the way the owner reported it and add no budget, menu or district the owner did not share. Our advertising system is built on that same weekly loop: one offer, shown early, counted after.
Friday: drive time is the real map
On Friday night the city's dining spreads across districts that each pull a different crowd. A good campaign picks the districts and suburbs your guests actually drive from and writes for them, instead of paying to reach the whole metro. These are the districts we start from.
A Plaza District room and a Bricktown room can sit a few miles apart and still need opposite Friday ads. One wants neighbors and the crowd that turns out for LIVE on the Plaza, the block party held the second Friday of each month. The other wants visitors, families and fans who are already parked downtown. Same city, same night, two offers and two maps.
- Bricktown: the mile-long canal, water taxis loading across from the ballpark. Visitors, families, game nights and big groups.
- Midtown and Automobile Alley: NW 10th and Walker, old dealership buildings on North Broadway. Date nights and after-work drinks.
- Plaza District and the Paseo: NW 16th between Classen and Penn, and the 1929 Paseo with its First Friday Gallery Walk.
- Uptown 23rd and the Asian District: Route 66 past the Tower Theatre, then pho along Classen from NW 23rd to NW 30th.
- Film Row, Deep Deuce and Calle Dos Cinco: West Sheridan's old film exchanges, NE 2nd Street's jazz history, SW 25th Street in Historic Capitol Hill.
- Classen Curve, Stockyards City and the Wheeler District: neighborhood shopping, Monday and Tuesday cattle auctions, the Ferris wheel on the river.

Saturday: farther drives and the big dates
People drive farther on a Saturday, and they drive farthest for the dates the city has published months ahead. Those dates let the offer and the photos be ready before families make plans, which is exactly the head start a driving city rewards. These are the ones we plan around.
Smaller events fill one district for an evening and can be the best night of a month for the rooms nearby: the Paseo's First Friday Gallery Walk, Fiestas de las Americas on Calle Dos Cinco during Hispanic Heritage Month, and OKC Restaurant Week, which benefits the Regional Food Bank. For these, a post and an ad a few days ahead, aimed at people already planning to be in the district, cost little and teach the crowd where you are.
- Late April: Festival of the Arts at Bicentennial Park, April 23 to 26 in 2026, its 60th year, and the Memorial Marathon on April 26.
- Memorial Day weekend: the Paseo Arts Festival, May 23 to 25 in 2026, then the Women's College World Series at Devon Park from May 28.
- June: deadCenter Film Festival downtown, June 10 to 14 in 2026. September: the State Fair, September 17 to 27.
- Winter: Downtown in December with the ice rink at Myriad Gardens, then New Year's Eve at Scissortail Park.
Game nights at the arena
The Thunder won the 2025 NBA championship in a Game 7 at Paycom Center, which stays their home while a new downtown arena goes up. Ground broke in March 2026, and the new arena is due by late summer 2028, in time for the 2028 to 2029 season. On home game nights downtown and Bricktown fill before tip-off and empty fast after the final buzzer.
For a restaurant a short drive from the arena, a pregame offer shown that afternoon to people heading downtown can fill the early tables, and a post-game menu catches the crowd on the way back to the car. Farther out, game night keeps many guests on the couch, so a watch-party or takeout offer for the people at home usually beats chasing the crowd. Which side of that line you are on gets settled on the growth call.
When the forecast changes the weekend
Weather can undo a weekend plan before the car leaves the driveway. Severe storm season runs March through June and peaks in April and May, with a second, smaller peak from mid-September into October. July averages a high of about 93 degrees, the city sees around ten days a year at 100 or more, and about 7.6 inches of snow falls in an average winter.
We plan for it rather than react. Patio offers run in the mild weeks of spring and fall. On storm nights the dine-in ads pause and a takeout or delivery offer goes to people already home, with ordering on your own site so the order stays yours. In the hottest weeks the offer moves indoors: a cold drink, an air-conditioned happy hour, a family meal to take home. Each version is written and shot before the forecast turns.
Edmond, Norman and the commute around them
Much of the metro eats outside the city core. Edmond, home to about 99,000 people and the University of Central Oklahoma, sits just north; Norman's Campus Corner grew up in the early 1900s to serve students at the University of Oklahoma. On a weeknight their guests stay close to home, and few downtown diners make the drive out to them.
For a suburban restaurant the audience is its own town and the commute around it, with a college calendar on top: busy during terms, quieter in the breaks. We set the radius from where your regulars actually live, test it, and widen it only when bookings show the farther drivers are coming. Our guide to setting a marketing budget shows how to size that spend before the first weekend runs.
Seen too late to matter.
In Oklahoma City the restaurant is picked at home. An ad that arrives once the family is on the road changes nothing.
Friday ads on Friday night
An offer that first shows up at six on Friday reaches people already parked somewhere else.
The whole metro, paid for
A metro-wide audience pays to reach Norman families who will never drive to the Plaza District on a weeknight.
One post for every district
Bricktown visitors and Midtown regulars want different things. A post written for both lands with neither.
Assistants sort by district.
Ask where to eat in Bricktown before a game and an assistant names three places. Pages that never name your district give it nothing to go on, which is why our SEO service builds them.
- 1.The barbecue joint on the canalBig portions, kid friendly.
- 2.The burger bar near the ballparkFast, open late on game nights.
- 3.The Tex-Mex place by the water taxiPatio, quick tables.
One weekend, then the next.
The first weekend teaches the second. This is how the first few weeks run.

Oklahoma City owners ask us these.
Weekend timing, drive times, game nights and storm season.
Where is ION based, and who shoots our restaurant?
ION operates nationwide, with its home base in New York City. Your shoot is done at your restaurant by photographers and videographers from our nationwide partners, trained by our team and given a shot list built on your menu and best sellers. Our team edits the footage and runs the ads, the pages and the monthly report, all in accounts you own. The shoot date is set on the growth call around your service.
What happened at the Oklahoma City restaurant you mention?
In its second week on our ad system it had its best weekend since opening, up $900 across Friday and Saturday. The owner reported it to us, and the receipt is on our case studies page. We publish only what the owner shared, so no budget or menu is attached to it.
When should our weekend ads start each week?
Wednesday, while plans are still open, with a second push on Friday afternoon for the people who decide late. By Friday evening most families have chosen and are on the road. Keeping the offer the same all week means it is familiar by the time they decide. Our Facebook advertising page explains how those ads are set up.
How far out should our ads reach?
As far as your guests really drive, which is farther than in a walking city and farther again on a Saturday. We set the area from where your regulars come from, not from a circle on a map. Then we test outward and keep only the areas that bring bookings or orders. A downtown room and an Edmond room end up with very different maps.
Should we advertise on Thunder nights?
It depends on the drive between your door and the arena. Close to downtown or Bricktown, a pregame offer shown that afternoon can fill the early tables. Farther out, game night keeps people home, so a watch-party or takeout offer usually does better. Either way the rest of the week keeps its own offer.
What should we do on storm nights?
Pause the dine-in ads and push takeout or delivery to people who are already home. Severe storm season runs March through June and peaks in April and May, so the storm-night offer is written and photographed in advance. When the weather clears, the weekend offer goes back up. Orders taken on your own site stay yours.
Can a restaurant in Edmond or Norman use this?
Yes. A suburban room's audience is its own town and the commute around it, with the college calendar on top. We set the radius from where your regulars live and widen it only when bookings show farther drivers are coming. Social media management keeps your food in front of locals between weekends.
A set fee. 0% of your weekends.
- A set monthly fee, agreed before the first weekend.
- Ad budget spent on the districts you draw from, in your own account.
- No cut of your sales, orders or parties.
